Chapter 2987 — A Smooth Breakthrough! Early Heaven Rank!

"Xiaoshu! I asked you to check on Wei Zhao, not to drool over him!" Gu Mengyao was more than a little annoyed. Of all the times for Shen Yushu to start admiring Wei Zhao's naked body!

"Oh—right, right..." Only then did Shen Yushu hurry over and begin examining Wei Zhao closely, head to toe—not even sparing his private parts. Fortunately, this time she was not joking around but utterly serious, as though genuinely checking whether anything was wrong with him. Gu Mengyao found it awkward but did not stop her; she merely kept watch on Shen Yushu out of the corner of her eye, not daring to look directly.

After a long examination, Shen Yushu reached her conclusion: Wei Zhao appeared to have no problems at all—apart from being unclothed, his body was completely intact! So she said, "Yao-yao, I can't see anything wrong with Arrow-Brand Bro, but I've never actually seen another boy naked, so I'm not really sure whether he has other problems!"

"Drop dead!" Gu Mengyao snapped. "You take the inch and ask for the mile!"

"You could look too, Yao-yao—you're the one who won't," Shen Yushu retorted.

Aunt Qing had been about to rush over at the sound of Gu Mengyao's scream, but once Shen Yushu said Wei Zhao was unclothed, naturally she could hardly go and look. Still, she was beside herself with worry. Now, hearing that there was nothing wrong with Wei Zhao's body, she could not help feeling puzzled. "Wei Zhao's skin—there's nothing off about it? It hasn't turned blue-purple? And there's no sign of shriveling?"

"No!" Shen Yushu shook her head and said with certainty.

"Hm? Then that's strange. Could it be that he didn't take the Intermediate Qi-Gathering Pill to break through?" Aunt Qing thought it over, and this was the only possibility she could come up with. So she called out from not far outside the door, "Wei Zhao, it's your Aunt Qing. I know you can hear me. Do not take the Intermediate Qi-Gathering Pill to break through—the consequences would be severe!"

Having said that, she turned to Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu. "All right, both of you come out now. Don't disturb him—I've already told him!"

"Okay!" Hearing Aunt Qing's words, Gu Mengyao was still a little doubtful, but it seemed there was nothing to worry about after all, so she finally relaxed. "Xiaoshu, let's go!"

"But I haven't looked my fill yet..." Shen Yushu said, reluctant to leave.

"You little pervert, keep it up and you can stay here—I'm leaving!" Gu Mengyao said angrily.

"Oh, then I'm leaving too..." Shen Yushu said she was leaving, but she kept looking back at every step, until Gu Mengyao, furious, gave her a kick. "Move it!"

Wei Zhao was in fact perfectly aware of everything happening outside, but at this moment he was busy dealing with the trouble he had run into—how could he spare the attention for them? He had heard Aunt Qing's words as well, and could only smile bitterly to himself. If only she had come a step earlier, he would not have been caught so off guard!

So to the conversation between the women outside the door, Wei Zhao could only respond with a bitter smile.

Still, Wei Zhao's skin had indeed been blue-purple before—that Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had not noticed anything unusual was because Wei Zhao had found a way to solve the problem!

That earlier feeling of "suffocation" had been agony for Wei Zhao. Because of the lack of heaven-and-earth spiritual energy, he had a flash of inspiration and quickly entered the jade pendant's space! Outside, there was no heaven-and-earth spiritual energy—but the jade pendant's space was different. There, heaven-and-earth spiritual energy was inexhaustible!

Sure enough, once Wei Zhao entered the jade pendant's space, vast quantities of pure energy surged into his body, swiftly nourishing his meridians and dantian!

Very quickly, Wei Zhao discovered to his delight that, having just broken through to the Heaven Rank, he had already stabilized his power at the early Heaven Rank stage! Such an astonishing speed left Wei Zhao utterly amazed, for he had heard that experts who broke through to the Heaven Rank all experienced a period of instability—especially those who broke through by taking pills. Old Master Zhao was a case in point.

But Wei Zhao found that breaking through with the Intermediate Qi-Gathering Pill carried no such flaw; it had directly stabilized his power.

And once Wei Zhao's power was stabilized, he found that his acupoints' automatic absorption of heaven-and-earth spiritual energy had stopped, returning to normal! Yet when Wei Zhao realized this, his earlier delight vanished and he broke out in a cold sweat!

If he had not had the jade pendant's space, he would have been in serious trouble earlier! This Intermediate Qi-Gathering Pill seemed different from the ordinary Qi-Gathering Pill—the Intermediate one, after the breakthrough, would continue to absorb heaven-and-earth spiritual energy to stabilize one's power level, whereas the ordinary one had no such process.

Just think: without the jade pendant's space to absorb pure energy from, where would Wei Zhao get so much heaven-and-earth spiritual energy to stabilize his power? Even if Wei Zhao had not used the jade pendant's space—never taken the Qi-Gathering Pill—the thin wisp of heaven-and-earth spiritual energy around him would have been utterly insufficient to stabilize his power!

Wei Zhao was certain: if he had not absorbed enough heaven-and-earth spiritual energy back then, he would surely have suffocated to death from the lack of it!

In other words, if anyone else had broken through this way, they would have been in grave danger—at best losing all their power, at worst losing their life!

Of course, Zhao Qitan would never have meant him harm, and Zhao Qijiu probably did not know about any of this either. He had taken the Intermediate Qi-Gathering Pill to break through from the early Earth Rank to the peak of the late Earth Rank; it was never meant to be used to break through a level barrier, so he likely had no idea about this.

At this thought, Wei Zhao secretly counted his blessings—it seemed the jade pendant's space had saved his life once again! This cheat always came to his aid at the most critical moments! Sometimes Wei Zhao would feel sorry for himself, thinking that with a cheat like the jade pendant, his leveling speed still was not as fast as Zhang Naipao's—but now, on reflection, it was always he who won in the end. Leveling fast did not mean being the final winner!

Once his power was stabilized, Wei Zhao casually took a fresh set of clothes from the wardrobe and put them on. But at this very moment, Wei Zhao was suddenly struck by a strange sense of déjà vu!

It seemed that the last time he had broken through by taking the Qi-Gathering Pill, someone had also come to check on him midway—and what had he done afterward? He seemed to have made a phone call. But whom had he called?

Wei Zhao shook his head. He simply could not remember clearly!
