Chapter 933 — Still an Uninvited Guest: "How Much?" An Jianwen Asked Hurriedly

The Blossom Guardian

"Ten million!" When the Medicine King made his move, it was rarely for less than ten million. The money was pure swindle — An Jianwen's illness had not been cured in the least — but the Medicine King was a black-hearted devil; even when fleecing a man, he never gave a discount.

"Th—fine!" An Jianwen gritted his teeth. He was not a wealthy man; most of his funds had long since gone to the An family and the Fire Wolf Gang. This time, though, the Fire Wolf Gang had put him in charge of setting up an underground boxing arena, and that had come with twenty million in seed money. To hand over ten million of it in one stroke stung him to the bone! Yet for the sake of a cure, he would rather plunder madly again in the days to come; for now, the ten million had to be spent.

"Good, then let me make some adjustments." The Medicine King nodded, produced his silver needles, and began theatrically jabbing them all over An Jianwen's body — while in truth he was secretly using true qi to seal off the meridians around that dog kidney, so that the organ could absorb nutrients and nothing more, and could no longer carry out any proper function of a kidney.

From then on, that kidney of An Jianwen's would live inside him like a parasite. The Medicine King did not know whether such a thing might leave some vicious aftereffect, but who cared? If the man was cured now and the illness flared up later, that would have nothing to do with the Medicine King. Who knew — when it did flare up, he might even collect another fat consultation fee.

Half an hour later, drenched in sweat, the Medicine King withdrew his power. He wiped the sweat from his brow and said in a very feeble voice, "There! But I've expended too much true qi — I must rest a while first..."

After all that channeling from the Medicine King, An Jianwen felt that his kidney truly no longer hurt; it seemed the treatment had really worked! Overjoyed, he cried, "It's cured just like that? Thank you, Medicine King, thank you, Medicine King! Wahaha, I'm finally a normal man with two kidneys!"

"Indeed — congratulations, Young Master Wen!" Zhao Qibing offered his congratulations too, smiling without a trace of warmth, cursing inwardly that the boy was a real simpleton.

"Young Master Bing, once I'm home I'll wire you the money. You don't doubt my credit, do you?" An Jianwen had come in a hurry, with no cash on him, and had never activated phone transfer service either.

"Not at all. We're long-term partners; I know your credit well enough!" Zhao Qibing waved a hand. "Just transfer it over once you're back. You've never shorted me before."

"No problem!" An Jianwen's thinking was this: he would go home, run a test or two, and see whether his kidney was truly better; if it really no longer hurt and there was no more blood in his urine, then he would transfer the money to Zhao Qibing. Now that the kidney was well, he recalled what the Medicine King had said earlier about Wei Zhao, and asked with some curiosity, "Young Master Bing, what was that business about Wei Zhao? His true qi is gone?"

"You haven't heard?" Zhao Qibing was startled. The news that Wei Zhao had lost every shred of his martial arts was something he himself had put out; by rights, everyone who bore Wei Zhao a grudge should have gotten word of it. Why didn't An Jianwen know?

"These past days my kidney hurt and I was pissing blood; I had no mind for anything else, so I've been rather out of touch," An Jianwen said with a bitter smile.

"I see!" Young Master Bing nodded, and without hiding anything, recounted to An Jianwen the whole affair between Wei Zhao and the Gu family — he even told him how the Xiao family and himself, and the Yu family too, had gone to Gu Pengzhan to demand money.

After all, none of it was any secret; a few inquiries once An Jianwen got home would be enough for him to learn it all. Besides, Wei Zhao was An Jianwen's enemy as well, and telling him would give him something to gloat over — and ensure that he transferred the consultation fee the moment he got back.

"Oh? So Gu Pengzhan has run out of roads to take?" An Jianwen asked in surprise.

"Naturally! This time the Gu family is finished!" Zhao Qibing laughed heartily. "Still, I never imagined the Yu family would come join the fun, and walk off with every share of the Gu Group besides, and make Gu Mengyao go to the Yu family as a concubine! Tsk tsk — that brat of the Yu family got himself a real bargain!"

The Yu family's part in it did not strike Zhao Qibing as at all improper. He meant to have the real-estate company regardless; the Yu family might be the foremost clan of the mundane world, but it would never dare deny Zhao Qibing face. And the Gu Group they had taken would have to be broken up to hand him the real-estate company anyway.

"Oh?" An Jianwen frowned inwardly, though on the surface he showed only regret. "Ah, if the Fire Wolf Gang had backed me, I'd have gone to get a share of the spoils too! But my case broke only recently — it's no time to draw attention. I suppose there's no chance..."

"Mm, but you have been unlucky, no denying it — the police cleaned out your whole den! Still, so long as you yourself are all right, that's what matters. So long as the hills stay green, there'll be no lack of firewood!" Zhao Qibing of course had no idea that An Jianwen was already scheming something else; he took the man for genuinely sorrowful.

"Never mind. I'll be off. I'll wire you the money once I'm home." An Jianwen said, without any change of expression.

"Take care, Young Master Wen!" Zhao Qibing bade him farewell with feigned warmth.

An Jianwen nodded, took his leave of Zhao Qibing, and departed the Geli Fuyun Bar. He had more important matters to attend to!

An Jianwen was in fact no simpleton. That Zhong Yongliang had been able to pull one over on him was only because he had assumed from the first that the kidney in his body was his own, and so had never harbored a doubt in any other direction. In truth, An Jianwen was a rather sinister man.

"Medicine King, did you fix him up?" Once An Jianwen had gone, Zhao Qibing could not keep from asking.

"No!" The Medicine King stripped off his coat at once. As last time, to put on a show he had used his true qi to make himself drip with sweat — when in fact the true qi he had spent on An Jianwen was less than what he had wasted working up a sweat.

"Then what did you...?" Zhao Qibing asked, startled.

"I merely rendered that dog kidney of his useless. I sealed a few meridians. From now on, that dog kidney will do nothing but absorb nutrients like a parasite," the Medicine King explained.

"Huh?" Hearing this, Zhao Qibing was delighted. "That's vicious — vicious to the bone! Gahaha, but I love it!"

"Of course. Working for Young Master Bing, how would a man get rich without being a little vicious?" the Medicine King flattered him. "Young Master Bing, I'll go take a shower first — I can't take it, I'm dying of heat!"

"Go on, go on. You're my god of wealth, you are! Hahaha!" Zhao Qibing laughed with delight. Good fortune had truly come his way of late: Wei Zhao was finished, and his business was growing ever larger! Once Gu Pengzhan and Wei Zhao were done for utterly, this Songshan City would be his — Zhao Qibing's — domain!

After leaving the Geli Fuyun Bar, An Jianwen drove straight to the Gu Group.

An Jianwen was the fifth uninvited guest to arrive at the Gu Group today!

Before him had come Wei Zhizun, the Xiao family, Zhao Qibing's men, and the Yu family!
