Chapter 242 — Close Contact
Blade of Dawn Page 2 of 2
"That is the passage from the Shadow Realm to the Gloom Realm," Camille affirmed Gao Yang's conjecture. "We do not know what force causes this phenomenon, but such terrifying great hollows are occasionally discovered in the Shadow Realm. Through proper guidance, one can use a great hollow to enter the deeper Gloom Realm. In fact, this is also the only way to enter the Gloom Realm. Entering the Shadow Realm is relatively easy—all it takes is a strong shadow aptitude, appropriate ritual magic, and some spellcasting materials to open a gate to the Shadow Realm. But to enter the Gloom Realm, one must find such a great hollow."
Gao Yang could not help muttering: "It always feels as though someone carved those holes into the Shadow Realm..."
"What did you say?"
"No, nothing," Gao Yang shook his head. "Have you discovered any other hollows in the Shadow Realm?"
"Yes, we discovered some once, but we succeeded in building only one magic gate," Camille answered frankly. "The process requires immense energy, and requires a certain kind of 'guidance.' We first located, through divine arts and divination, the coordinates in the real world corresponding to the White Star's Fall, then built the surface Fortress of Defiance at those coordinates, then opened a spatial rift at the fortress's base and, with the divine power of the Great Stag Amorn, pushed the rift to the edge of the great hollow in the Shadow Realm, and only at the very end opened this one and only gate to the Gloom Realm. Such a success is all but impossible to replicate—unless we could find another fallen god on the far side of another great hollow in the Shadow Realm."
So other great hollows did exist in the Shadow Realm, and these great hollows were the passages to the Gloom Realm, and the power of the gods could open these passages...
The various clues converged in Gao Yang's mind. After a moment, he raised his head and looked at the corpse of the God of Nature.
It was already close at hand. The corpse was so immense that it now loomed like a small hill a hundred meters away. The faint white light that suffused the great white stag's body carried a gentle warmth, and merely drawing near, Gao Yang felt a vigorous vitality rush toward him.
To sense such vitality from a corpse—that was truly an eerie thing.
And at the same time as he sensed the vitality, he could also clearly sense that something remaining within the corpse was afraid of him.
Was it the god's residual consciousness? A fragment of the soul? Or merely the conditioned reflexes lingering in those undying tissue cells of immense vitality? Gao Yang did not know what this subtle sensation was, but he could clearly feel that a portion of the energy reactions within the corpse were declining sharply as he approached, as if desperately trying to conceal themselves.
Even Camille noticed the change. His life form had been transformed by divine power, so he was especially sensitive to changes in the energy within the Great Stag Amorn. He shot Gao Yang a horrified glance, but the next second, he saw something even more horrifying: the half-serpent creature called Tyre was charging toward the body of the God of Nature, knife and fork raised high...
"Delicious!!"
Tyre gave the God of Nature the highest of praise.
